The gravity casting method is preferred for more complex parts with narrow dimensional tolerances and a large number of parts. Special quality cast iron or steel is used as mold material in the gravity die casting method.

Up to 100.000 pieces of low melting materials such as aluminum can be cast by the gravity casting technique.

Since the cooling time during solidification is shorter than sand molds, the internal structure of the metal is more finely grained.
